Oktav was a special person and a special musician. He was a sort of gentle giant and I'm sure his friends and family miss him very much. Even I miss him, though I never met him in person. We only were in contact via the net, but I considered him a friend, I felt his beautiful soul clearly.
And he was a musician...
His music was quirky and unique, it never seemed to follow the beaten path. It was disorienting at first, but then - when you finally started to understand it - it turned into a fascinating journey.
A few years ago he sent me some of his tracks to listen to, so I asked his partner of a lifetime, Gülden Yoldaş Şaktimur, if she thought it was OK for me to release them now on this compilation to help preserve his music and she agreed.
The tracks you will find here do not represent what he did, his production was very diverse, so I invite you to go to his Bandcamp page and listen to his albums.
Dear Oktay, you left us way too early, but I know you're still around here somewhere to take care of your loved ones: you would never abandon them.
